English City: Virtual and Online
Our courses are based in English City a virtual city based in Second Life. Our city has all the amenities you would expect to find in a real city. For example,

And much, much more! You control a character called an avatar. An avatar is a virtual representation of you! You can change your avatars clothing, hair style, shape, skin tone, and many other characteristics that make each unique. When you sign up for Languagelab.com, you will get to choose a unique name for your avatar. You can choose any first name (given name) but will have to select a last name (surname) from a list. Your avatar can even fly!
Using the latest 3D technology, you move your avatar around the city. You can enter buildings and interact with all of the objects you see. For example, you might grab a drink at the pub or go with a fellow student to view the newest pieces of art installed in the gallery. You can even play football with Dart on English City's pitch!
The best part about English City is the ability to speak and listen to those around you. All of the classes inside the city utilize advanced voice technology (voice over IP, or VoIP) enabling you to chat in real-time with your teachers and peers.
