Transforming Language Learning

Languagelab was founded in 2005 to transform language learning using the capabilities of virtual worlds. We recognised that as English usage grew, schools and universities around the world would increasingly offer English as a Second Language training. But where would these students go to practice their language skills? Few have the time or resources to move to an English-speaking country where they could truly perfect their skills.

We attacked the problem head-on, bringing together teachers, entrepreneurs, programmers and architects to create a virtual English city that mirrors any found in the US, UK or Australia.

Now, anyone with a computer, head set and Internet connection can practice the English skills they have learned in the classroom by spending time in our virtual city with other students and our teachers—all native speakers and trained in the uses of virtual worlds.

Currently, students from more than 50 countries, including China, Japan, Korea and Saudi Arabia, are studying with us. We have observed their progress and they have, too. Many tell us that it is the most effective way of learning they have ever experienced. We are proud to be at the forefront of this new technology and look forward to exploring where the technology will take us next.
