Building 101 is an 8-hour intense crash course that will cover all aspects of beginner and intermediate building in Second Life, from prim creation and movement to basic use of scripts, sculpties, and animations.
Intense instruction in class and in-world assistance are available if students need help with their homework projects.
This will be an instructor-directed crash course, featuring a lecture portion, instructor-directed hands-on building and individual attention. Students will graduate with the knowledge they need to build projects on their own. Your instructor for this course will be Lowri Mills.
Prerequisites for this course are as follows:
Students must have a computer that is at least at the minimum level recommended by Linden Labs, capable of running at least at Mid-Quality in preferences, with Bump Mapping, Basic Shaders, and Nearby Local Lights added.
Students must be comfortable with using keyboard camera controls and the basic movements and functions of Second Life.
It is highly recommended that students use a mouse with left and right buttons.
Students will be expected to put in a minimum of 4-5 hours a week practicing in-world.
In addition to graphics, this course uses sound.
It is important that you log into the class half an hour early on the first meeting date for necessary preparations.
Class will be taught in Second Life Viewer 2.0. Please download the latest version before the class begins.
